GIBSONTON, FL - Defending late model champion Donnie Tanner made it two in a row as he won the crash filled 25-lap feature on a special Friday night of racing at East Bay Raceway. Following an exceptional $10,000 fireworks display, Tanner drove away in the main, missing an exceptional five car battle for seconds that saw David Schmauss nose out Bill Howard, Perry Crowe, Frank Erskine, Jr. and Steve Mathis.

East Bay "Mr. Hot Shoe" Kenny Adams won his eighth sprint car feature of the year but it was his hardest. Fighting his way through traffic, Adams caught the three leaders on the 20th lap of the 25 lap contest. He swapped third with Joe Melnick six times in three laps then caught leader Johnny Gilbertson on the last corner of the last lap and won by less than a wheel width in the middle of lapped traffic at the finish. Gilbertson finished second ahead of Melnick, Sport Allen and Steve Williams.

Don Gansner, defending points champion, won the street stock feature ahead of brothers Donnie Paris and Charlie Paris. Jeremy Lape and Danny McCall rounded out the top five.

In what can only be called a prelude to the 4th of July demo derby, 25 cars started the limited late model main but only eight finished. Danny Bowman won the crash filled event over Roger Crouse, David Simpson, Keith Simpson and Howard Kleinatland. Ed Riblett won the demolition derby and the mini-stock feature was time delayed and will be added to the Sat., July 11 card.
