GIBSONTON, FL - Brady Alvis made the final points night at East Bay Raceway special for his entire team as they won their first feature Saturday night. With excellent racing for every position it was one of the most exciting sprint car features ever as Kenny Adams came from last place to catch the leader on the final lap but he had to settle for second. Roland Johnson was third, followed by Greg Leonard, Sport Allen Joe Melnick, Mike Tharp, Paulie Milum, Ken Elliott and Gene Lasker.

Donnie Maxwell won his second limited sprint feature as he drove away from the field. Andy Kelley was second over Clyde Poole, Johnny Law and Robert Tyler.

The 25-lap late model event was once again a side-by-side five car race for the lead until a multi-car crash brought out the red flag. Defending champion Donnie Tanner won his sixth feature of the season and his second consecutive track championship as he drove away from the hot battle for second. Bobby Alexander captured second, nosing out Keith Nosbisch for second in the final points as Keith finished fourth behind his brother Ken who beat him on the last corner. Jack Nosbisch Jr. was fifth ahead of J.R. Austin, Bobby Alexander Jr., Mark Haase, Bill Howard and Dick Rigby.

The limited late model race decided the 1998 championship as Roger Crouse had difficulties, losing the title to Danny Bowman who finished third behind Forrest Gough and Johnny Parker. In the street stock main there was a five car battle for second behind winner Donnie Paris. Jerry Lape nosed out Mike Kessel for second, followed by Chad Smith and Charlie Paris.

Mike Smith won his 11th mini-stock feature, holding off Devin Dixon, Dorsey Strickland, William Hampton and Scotty Williams.

East Bay concludes the season next weekend with a two-day show.
