VERNON, NY - The lightning fast alcohol powered Sprint Cars of the Eastern Limited Sprints (ELS) will be holding their final point show on Sunday September 17 at the New Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon. Also scheduled are the Slingshots plus special long distance high paying title races for the DIRT Sportsman, DIRT Pro Stocks, and Pure Stocks. Race time is scheduled for 5pm.
The earth will shake as ELS Sprints blister the half-mile speedway in near record lap times. Brian Dumigan holds a slim five-point lead over Rick Hart heading into the final points race for the popular ELS Sprint Cars. Earlier this year, George Suprick and Mike Lauterborn registered wins at the fast half-mile Utica-Rome oval. Other drivers looking for the huge 20-lap feature win will be John Lieto, Dave Wickham, Justin Barger, John Karklin Jr., Doug Emery, and many more. Utica-Rome race fans are kept on the edge of their seats by the sprint cars and Sunday September 17th should be no exception.
The Sportsman (25 laps), Pro Stock (25 laps), and Pure Stock (15 laps) divisions will be running Mr. (division name) title races, paying $850 to win, $600 to win, and $400 to win respectively, and a steller field of cars should be in competition.
The New Utica-Rome Speedway is a Sunday family tradition in the Mohawk Valley, and you can be a part of it as the racing season winds down for 2000. The gates on Sunday September 17 will open at 2pm and racing will begin at a special time of 5pm. The speedway is located just 20 minutes west of Utica on Route 5 in Vernon, and it is easily accessible from NYS Thruway Exit 33. Free parking and overnight camping is allowed on speedway grounds.
