From Victory Lane At Greenwood Valley Action Track By Than Mitchell

More than 100 competitors and their families gathered at the Community Center in Jerseytown on Friday night to be a part of the Annual Greenwood Valley Action Track Appreciation Banquet presented by Gerry and Cindy Creveling, track owners. Trophies were presented to the top three competitors in each of the Go-Kart classes and Micro Sprints, with first place in each class receiving a Greenwood Valley Action Track jacket in addition to their trophies.

Nearly everyone attending the Annual get together went home with some sort of prize, as numerous organizations and sponsors provided fuel funnels, tape measures, insulated drink cups, and ice chests. A gas grill, also provided by the Crevelings, was the evening's top prize.

A special presentation was made by Action Track EMTs, Rod Eves, Colleen Gordner, and Shelly Yashimski. Recognition of the abundance of gauze, tape, and highly skilled emergency medical attention provided to one racing team, the Boyer family, Wayne, Brent and Bree, received a special commemorative plaque. The gathering was reminded of Bree's crash-and-burn performance in turn #1, where she received a new coiffure - the hard way. (Bree's hair has recovered nicely and she came home the winner in the season's final Regular Micro Feature.) Also needing special EMT attention this racing season, was the Boyer patriarch, who sprayed fuel in his eyes one evening and on another offered real blood to the sweat and tears of racing when he suffered a nasty wound. Everyone has recovered and the award was accepted in the spirit it was given.

Special thanks was given to the behind-the-scenes staff, without whom The Action Track wouldn't be the successful operation it is; the invaluable EMTs, four-wheeler push vehicle drivers, and the snack bar personnel. More than anyone, the Crevelings know how much work and how many people are needed to keep the season running smoothly, but it's all a part of their very large extended family.

Mark your calendar, Bug Night will be on the last Saturday of March, 1999. See you then.
