On Victory Lane at Greenwood Valley by Than Mitchell Sept. 4, 1999

Eric Heydenreich, Bloomsburg, was a popular winner of the Micro Sprint Feature on Saturday night at The Greenwood Valley Action Track. Though Heydenreich's set-up was off requiring him to run on the bottom of the track, he held off second place finisher, Joe Bednarski of Wyoming. Trying high and low, Bednarski's efforts to pass were to no avail. The other car in the leaders' parade through lapped traffic was third place finisher, Rick Tanner, Watsontown. David Utt, Catawissa finished in fourth with Colby Womer, Mt. Pleasant Mills, tied to Utt's nerf bar in the fifth slot. Sixth place went to Brian Kishbaugh, Nescopeck, while Eric Perchak, Hazelton was seventh and in eighth place was Jason Kemp from Bloomsburg. Rounding out the top ten were last week's feature winner, Brad McClelland, Westminster, MD, and Jake Park, Rome.

It was a great night of racing for Richie Mitchell, Mortonville as he picked up his first winner's trophy in the Rookie Micro Sprint Feature. Mitchell, grinning broadly in Victory Lane, thanked family and crew for their help in the racing effort. Finishing second, and holding the position through most of the race was Geoff Hogan, Plymouth. Chad Thomas who lives in New Berlin was third. Ross Perchak, Hazelton, was awarded the fourth and Scott Tate, Middleburg, managed a fifth place finish. Dave Clark, Hughsville, was sixth, Eric Eckert, Bristol, seventh and Glen Walp, Wapwallopen, eighth. Ninth and tenth across the line were Doug Landis, Liverpool, in his first ever Micro Sprint Feature, and Lee Benjamin, Berwick.

September 4th was the date for the Custom Metal Coating Night. Jay Furlong, who operates his business in Sunbury, spoke of the advantages of Powder Coating on nearly every metal, especially parts found on race cars!

A big surprise for the fans was the season's first appearance of the Racing Riding Lawn Mowers, an event which must be seen to be believed and fully appreciated. The RRLMs will be back for next week to cut another swath in the entertaining race program.

The evening's activities wrapped up with The Action Track's Annual Labor Day corn roast. Come to The Greenwood Valley Action Track next Saturday evening for close competition as the end of the '99 Points Race draws near. Gates open at 3:30 and warm-ups begin at 5:30.
