On Victory Lane at Greenwood Valley . . . . by Than Mitchell

Neil "the Wheel" Petock, a long-time regular at the Greenwood Valley Action Track led the 250cc Micro Sprint Feature from pole to flag. After a winless '99 Micro Sprint campaign, which saw Petock come close to winning on several occasions, the winner's victory yell on Saturday night could be heard in Millville, three miles away! Jeff Furlong, Selinsgrove, another regular GVAT competitor, maintained second spot from the green, leading Blane Heimbach, also from Selinsgrove, across the finish line. In fourth place was Jason Kemp, Bloomsburg, while Joe Bednarski, Wyoming, was fifth and Colby Womer, Mt. Pleasant Mills was sixth. Kevin Stolz, Bloomsburg, Scott Kishbaugh, Nescopeck, David Utt, Catawissa, and Chris Smith, Bloomsburg finished out the top ten.

In the Easter Eve Rookie Micro Sprint clash, Shane Penny of Berwick drove the Ronnie Payne Micro to the checkered flag. Second across the line was Dave Williams while third place honors were captured by Lee Benjamin, Berwick. In the fourth position was Dillon Stein, fifth went to Brett Arndt, Topton, and Joey Finan, Milton was sixth. Scott Tate, of Sam Racing, Middleburg, managed to come in seventh, Gary Slusser, Bloomsburg, was eighth while Phil Weinsteiger, Green Lane, and Jesse Snyder rounded out the first ten across the line.

The evening finished out with a Wingless Micro Sprint race which Frank Venezia, Little Ferry, NJ, won, followed by Brett Arndt and Joe Bednarski. Earlier, an addition to the Regular show was an unusual race of garden tractors; adding excitement and lawn care to the evening's program.

Join the Greenwood Valley Action Track Family of competitors and fans for an evening of excitement next Saturday. Gates opening at 3, and warm-ups at 5:30. See you at the Action Track, located 3 1/2 miles east of Millville on Route 254.
