KNOXVILLE, IOWA (December 4, 2003) - The names of the fourteen (14) individuals that have been elected to the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame for 2004 were released today by executive director Thomas J. Schmeh. Those selected by the 76-member National Induction Committee for formal induction into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville on June 5, 2004, are as follows:

Driver category: Chuck Amati, Sherman "Red" Campbell, Chuck Gurney, Keith Kauffman, Bryan Saulpaugh, Bob Slater, Billy Wilkerson.

Owner/Mechanic/Builder/Manufacturer/Car Sponsor category: Jim Culbert, Ralph Morgan, "Boston" Louis Seymour.

            Promoter/Official/Media Member/Event-Series Sponsor
category: Walter Bull, Bruce Craig, Keith Hall, Don Peabody.

According to Schmeh, "The induction committee has done an outstanding job in selecting next year's inductees, as the mix includes outstanding achievers from Los Angeles to Boston, and Livermore to Mifflintown. It is exciting to see Keith Kauffman be inducted while he is still incredibly competitive on the tough Central Pennsylvania scene. We genuinely hope the multi-time Port Royal Speedway champion will consider running our induction weekend events at Knoxville, including the Friday night Hoosier Tire Midwest Masters Classic 360-cubic-inch sprint car race for drivers age fifty and over, and the track's regular Saturday night 410 c.i. sprint car race.

Continued Schmeh, "We look forward to hosting 'the One-Armed Bandit' Chuck Amati, former Northern Auto Racing Club champion Chuck Gurney, former California Racing Association champion Billy Wilkerson, Jim Culbert of Culbert Automotive Engineering, Manzanita Speedway's Keith Hall and the families of the other inductees on June 4-5-6 in Knoxville."
