Dewease takes 14th Annual Manufacturers Appreciation race.

McKENZIE, TN - Lance Dewease continued his banner season in the Hamilton Motorsports #77 J&J this past weekend. Dewease scored his fifth Lincoln win of the season in the 14th Annual Manufacturers Appreciation Night Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway driving the #77 Hamilton Motorsports J&J.

"I'm really proud of this team," said Dewease, following his 20th victory of 2002. "We put ourselves in a position to win every big race at the end of the year, and the only one we didn't win was here and that's all part of this racing game...you take the good with the bad."

Dewease took the lead on the opening lap in the Hamilton Motorsports #77 J&J by beating fellow J&J runner Keith Kauffman into turn three. He led every lap, but it certainly wasn't easy as Fred Rahmer had the Joe Harz Racing #88h J&J running wide open late in the race and made several runs at the lead. Dewease eventually used lapped traffic to hold off Rahmer to win his 19th career feature event at the half-mile dirt oval.

"The track was pretty racey during the feature, and we set up pretty loose so we could keep going because we had a pretty soft tire on the left rear," explained Dewease. "We weren't the best at the end, but we were good enough. As soon as the checkered came out, I slowed down and (Fred) came up and motioned to congratulate me...he's a class act, and a heck of-a-good racer just like all these other guys who were here tonight."

Kauffman brought the Middleswarth Potato Chips #7 J&J home fifth joining Dewease and Rahmer in the top five giving J&J three finishes out of the first five.

THUNDER ON THE HILL SERIES

Lance Dewease and the Hamilton Motorsports team were set to compete at Grandview Speedway on Saturday for the fourth and final Thunder on the Hill Series 410 sprint event, but mother nature prevailed ending the series for the season. For his success in the three events, he earned the 2002 Thunder on the Hill Series Title, awarded to the driver who earns the most money in the Thunder on the Hill Series. For Dewease, the 2002 Championship marks the fourth time of winning the Thunder Series Championship as he won in 1998-99o and again in 2000.
