Hanover, PA (August 22, 1998) - Fred Rahmer won his 15th feature race at Lincoln Speedway this season, moving to third on the all-time career win list with 72 wins. One win behind second place, Bobby Allen with 73.

Rahmer also pulls within two wins of the all time record for wins in one season held by Steve Smith with 17. Two feature events are on the card next weekend at Lincoln Speedway as the Allstars have a makeup race to run before running another complete program.

Rahmer dedicated the win to Ed Stauffer after climbing from the car in victory lane. "I'd just like to dedicate this win to him because he was one hell of a racer," said Rahmer after his 15th Lincoln win of the year, "Everybody who races around here lost a good friend, Ed Stauffer, who passed away two weeks ago. He dedicated more of his life to racing than I'll ever be able to...and I learned a lot from him when I was with them."

Rahmer started 12th but moved up quickly on the start. By end of the second lap, Rahmer had moved into eighth position.

Darren Eash jumped out to a comfortable lead from his outside front row starting position followed by polesitter Tim Kuhn, Dave Haight, Jeff Rohrbaugh, and Dave Ely in fifth.

Darren Eash encountered lapped traffic on lap six but still managed to maintain a comfortable lead over the battling trio of Kuhn, Haight and Rahmer.

At mid-point in the race, Haight had secured second from Kuhn but still had Rahmer all over his rear bumper. Rahmer made a successful bid for second on lap fourteen but Eash still maintained a one turn lead.

Newcomer to 410 sprint car racing, Jamie Chesson, got too wide in turn one, clipped the wall in turn two and took a high flying tumble, coming to rest at the top of turn two. He was uninjured.

When green replaced red, Rahmer went to work on Darren Eash, taking three laps to put a perfect slide job on Eash through turns three and four.

The race was stopped twice after Chesson's flip, a yellow for the stopped No. 12 Apple Chevrolet car of Greg Hodnett, and another red flag period when Tim Kuhn flipped at the same spot as Chesson.

Cris Eash made a late race charge towards the front, passing his brother, Darren, for second on the lap 20 restart. Eash was able to close on Rahmer but still didn't have enough to deny the Salfordsville, PA driver his 15th win of the season.
