Bell Rings in Abilene for ASCS Lone Star Win

ABILENE, Texas (May 30, 2009) -- Jerry Bell made a late move to the front for his first career American Sprint Car Series feature win in Saturday night's 25-lap ASCS Lone Star main event at Abilene Speedway.

The 2004 ASCS Gulf South champion battled past Brad Welborn on the 19th circuit en route to victory lane aboard the Eckley-powered Bell's Custom Conversions No. 85 Maxim in the ASCS debut atop the Abilene clay oval.

Bell was chased to the stripe by Welborn and Michael Lang, who paced the initial circuits. Scott Reneau was fourth, with John Ricketts rounding out the top five. Brian McClelland raced from 15th to sixth, with Kolt Walker, Chad Wilson, Jerry Graves and Dalton Steed completing the top ten.

Bell, Lang and current series points leader Kevin Ramey topped heat race action. J.P. Bailey and Eric Baldaccini tangled and flipped on the opening round of the night's third heat race, bringing an early end to the night for both contenders.
