ASCS Drivers Dominate Mid-Season Poll

TULSA, Okla. (July 18, 2006) -- The American Sprint Car Series was well-represented in the recent "Salute to Fred Brownfield" Mid-Season North American Sprint Car Poll, with O'Reilly ASCoT competitors sweeping the top three positions.

In the poll released last Thursday, July 13, from the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum, the selected voting panel of media members, promoters, manufacturers and sanctioning officials gave the nod to Louisiana's Jason Johnson, who edged three-time National Driver of the Year Gary Wright for the number one spot, with Nick Smith ranking third. Travis Rilat (sixth) and Jesse Hockett (ninth) also ranked among the top ten, giving O'Reilly ASCoT regulars five of the top ten positions.

Current Bobcat of Buffalo ASCS Patriot Sprint Group point leader Chuck Hebing of Ontario, NY, also ranked among the top ten by garnering enough votes for a seventh-place ranking.

Missouri's Brian Brown, ranked among the top ten in ASCS Midwest Region points, was voted eighth in the poll.

Others ASCS representative included among the 25 in the poll are third-ranked ASCS Midwest Region racer Jake Peters (12th), seventh-ranked O'Reilly ASCoT competitor Darren Stewart (13th), ASCS Northern Plains Region point leader Chuck Swenson (16th), and ASCS Sooner Region point leader and sixth-ranked ASCoT contender Sean McClelland (21st).
