GREENWOOD, Neb. (April 10, 2009) -- Billy Alley opened up the 2009 Sprint Car racing season in the Midwest by topping Friday night's 25-lap ASCS Midwest vs. Northern Plains Challenge Series feature event atop Nebraska Raceway Park's I-80 Speedway.

The former ASCS Midwest Region champion hailing from nearby Lincoln, NE, needed just nine laps to charge forward from the sixth row outside starting position and then lapped up to ninth in the process of bagging his eighth career win under the ASCS banner.

While Alley went to work from 12th, pole starter Mike Chadd paced the opening eight rounds in front of fellow front row starter Mike Boston before Alley surged by and raced to the checkered flag unabated in the no-stop affair.

After topping the night's second "B" Main event, Brian Brown raced forward from the 14th starting position and took over the runner-up slot on the 16th round before taking the checkered flag a half straightaway behind Alley.

Chadd settled for the show position, while Dusty Zomer and Wade Nygaard rounded out the top five. Jonathan Cornell climbed a handful of positions to sixth, with Boston, Eric Lutz, Don Droud, Jr., and Jason Danley completing the top ten.

Chadd, Droud, Boston, Ryan Bickett and Lutz topped heat race action for the 44-car field, with Jody Rosenboom and Brown winning the "B" Mains.
