TULSA, Okla. (January 12, 2005) -- Set to embark upon its 14th year of racing action, the nation's premier touring 360-ci Sprint Car series, the American Sprint Car Series, has released its National schedule for the 2005 season.
The current 2005 slate for the O'Reilly American Sprint Car Series presented by Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores and Classic Trailers consists of 40 nights of racing action at 21 different tracks in nine different states, including Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.
The series features book-ending events at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX, with the season opener during the 32nd Annual Spring Nationals on March 18-19 and the season finale during the 32nd Annual Devil's Bowl Winter Nationals on October 21-22.
New stops on the O'Reilly ASCS National Tour in 2005 include the action-packed Cowtown Speedway in Kennedale, TX, on May 28, Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE, on July 20, the ultra-fast US 36 Raceway in Cameron, MO, on July 22 and Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, MO, on July 23.
Among the highlights of the 2005 slate is the 14th edition of the always-competitive COMP Cams ASCS Speedweek. The '05 version includes seven nights of racing at seven different tracks over nine nights from June 3-11, throughout Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas.
The 14th Annual COMP Cams ASCS Speedweek kicks off at Memphis Motorsports Park on June 3, before moving across the river to Riverside Speedway in West Memphis, AR, the next night. After an off day, action resumes at Tri-State Speedway near Ft. Smith on Monday night, with Tulsa Speedway hosting round four on Tuesday night, June 7. Devil's Bowl Speedway hosts the Thursday night, June 9, stop, before the series moves on to 67 Texarkana Speedway in Arkansas the next night. Little Rock's I-30 Speedway hosts the COMP Cams ASCS Speedweek finale on June 11.
For the second year in a row, Nebraska Raceway Park in Greenwood, NE, leads into Knoxville's 360 Nationals. The series stops at NRP on Wednesday night, August 3, with the $10,000-to-win Knoxville 360 Nationals on Thursday and Friday, August 4-5. The full weekend of racing action will wrap up with the Night before the Brodix Tournament of Champions on August 6 and the Brodix Tournament of Champions on Sunday night, August 7.
Also included on the 2005 O'Reilly ASCS National slate is the 2nd Annual Lake Ozark Speedway 360 Nationals on September 3-4.
