NEI Dirt Tour Butler makeup date announced

Allison, IA - The NEI (North East Iowa) Dirt Tour will race at Butler County Speedway in Allison, IA on Tuesday, August 12, 2003. Rain forced the cancellation of the NEI Dirt Tour's race date back on June 25, 2003.

Racing Promoters of the Midwest (RPM) and Iowa Racing Promotions, INC (IRP) have set the August 12th racing card to feature the RPM Modifieds. Also racing that night will be Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks, 360-Modifieds, and Hornets. Hot laps are set for 7:00 PM with racing to follow.

NEI Dirt Tour officials stated that Aikey Auto Salvage (Cedar Falls, IA) would remain as the title sponsor of this event. Thanks to the efforts of Aikey Auto Salvage, the RPM Modified A-Main winner will score $700. Each driver who starts that 25-lap A-Main will earn $100.

Darin Duffy (Hazelton, IA) leads the NEI Dirt Tour point standings with one win. Joey Schaefer (Waterloo, IA) sits two points back. 2002 NEI Dirt Tour champion Jamie Aikey is third, and Todd Kelley (Fredericksburg, IA) and Corey Dripps (Cedar Falls, IA) round out the top 5.

Kevin Pittman (Waterloo, IA), who is seventh in points, has run well at the speed plant in Allison, and he is expected to be a threat come August 12th. Charlie McKenna (Clear Lake, IA), Russ Olson (Cedar Rapids, IA), Vern Jackson (Waterloo, IA), Ron Barker (Dubuque, IA), and more have contacted RPM saying they plan to attend.

RPM and IRP have also set Saturday, September 13, 2003 as the race date for the NEI Dirt Tour's "Dirt Race For A Cure" ... benefiting the American Cancer Society. Among the many things planned that night will be lap sponsor for the RPM Modified A-Main.

"Each lap will go for forty dollars a lap," said series Competition Director Bucky Doren. "Ten dollars will go to the A.C.S. Fifteen will go to the leader of each lap, and ten and five for second and third."

"We are very excited about the response we have received already," added the tour's Technical Director Chris Marchese. "We have been asked if they can sponsor a lap in memory of someone they lost due to cancer. Absolutely."
