Spring Run, PA - Brandon Grandstaff, Sean Good and Jeff Furlong went three wide through the whole first lap of the 270cc Sprints feature Friday night at Path Valley Speedway Park and then Grandstaff found a better bite on the outside groove to take the lead and charge to the checkers.

The Strasburg VA driver scored his third Path Valley win and ninth overall for the season after the feature's single caution on lap 19 regrouped the field that Grandstaff had mostly lapped.

The front six finishers on the lead lap were Grandstaff, Jeff Furlong, Jim Callahan Jr., Sean Good, Butch Harrington and Rodney Glass. Glass and Jim Young won the heats. One more Friday night race remains on Sept. 28 and the final All-Sprint Saturday Night race was scheduled Sept. 22.

In the season's final 305 V-8 Sprint feature, former micro-sprint driver Scott Ellerman of Landisburg won his fifth Path Valley feature. J.R. Fogelsonger won the heat and the finish order was Ellerman by half a turn, Fogelsonger, Jason Schultz, Joe Davis and George Johnson.

Tim Fedder of Newport won his third of the season in the V-8 street stocks. Steve Bailor won the single heat race and there were no cautions.

Teens won the four-cylinder features with fifteen-year-old Keith Walls of St. Thomas taking his fifth win in the four-cylinder thunder cars after starting sixth and passing for the lead on lap four. Rookie of the Year for 2000 Kyle Wiser, 17, of Mt. Union won his first of the season and second career feature in the modified mini stocks with a three-wide paint-scraping pass on lap 16.

Brandy Walls of Chambersburg outran Sue Walls for the four-cylinder powder puff win with an outside pass in lap three. Liz Reisinger of Ickesburg driving the #34 of Tim Fedder won in the V-8 Street Stocks for the second year in a row. The Legends Cars were off with most headed for the national championships in Charlotte.

“ The racing and the driving just gets better and better and our drivers finished all five regular features and two powder puffs before ten o’clock,” said Promoter Ken Geesey.“ We had no bad wrecks and only four cautions in the five regular features.”

Geesey announced that Two Wheel Promotions has scheduled one extra event for the Junk Cars on Saturday, Oct. 20. Rules for the four-cylinder, six-cylinder and V-8 Junk Cars are available on the track’s website at www.pathvalley.com and at the track. The last Path Valley Junk Car race had more than 30 entries and included a mechanic’s race and a powder puff after the main event.

The regular season concludes next Friday night with all five weekly divisions and the Cyclones and a rain-makeup for the Dwarf Cars. The Four-Cylinder Shootout with $1000 to the winner is next Saturday, Sept. 29. Legends Day and the Path Valley Flea Market are scheduled Oct. 6 and the final race for the AMA motorcycles is Oct. 13.

The Path Valley Speedway Park is located in Spring Run PA a mile north on PA Route 641 from the intersection with PA Route 75, halfway between Port Royal and Hagerstown. It is five miles east from the Willow Hill Exit 14 of the PA Turnpike off Route 75.
