Spring Run, PA_ Dusty Shatzer of Hagerstown, a veteran micro sprint winner at the Path Valley Speedway Park in past years, raced to his first win in the full-size PA 305 Sprints Friday night. He led every lap and the final one-lap shootout after Von McGee flipped over the turn three wall on lap 20, and then he dedicated his first win to his father, Don, as a birthday gift.

Middleburg chauffer Sean Good in the Elite Chassis factory micro outran Matt Miller for his nineteenth 270 Sprints win, and in 600 Sprints Jimmy Callahan of McVeytown took the lead from Ben Murphy on lap 8 and then beat defending 600 Sprints champion Jim Brookens to the checkers by half a turn.

Young Mike Hay of Somerset led every lap of the Dwarf Cars feature and lapped all but two other Dwarfs. "The track was fabulous and I found a smooth tacky outside groove that made passing easier," he said.

Kevin Thomas of St. Thomas won the Mini Stock feature by about six feet as Jerry Bard made a futile wheel to wheel charge through the final three laps and Randy Wible finished third with his #9 spouting dramatic flames. Lyle Barnes of Chambersburg led the four-cylinder thunder cars by half the track until a lap 18 caution regrouped the field, but Barnes held the lead over Keith Armolt through the final three laps to win by a turn.

All three classes of sprints race every Friday night in October as Path Valley attempts to make up 30 rainouts and provide a broader base of races for the points standings, and next Friday, Oct. 3, will see seven features on the quarter mile clay oval as the Dwarf Cars with the V-8 Street Stocks return. The PA 305 Sprints headline all the remaining races with the 600 Sprints and 270 Sprints also in action and the Mini Stocks and thunder cars provide weekly stock car support.

The Path Valley Speedway Park is located in Spring Run PA a mile north on PA Route 641 from the intersection with PA Route 75, halfway between Port Royal and Hagerstown. It is five miles east from the Willow Hill Exit 14 of the PA Turnpike. The new phone number at the track is 717-349-7111.
