LUCAS OIL ASCS PATRIOTS CIRCULATE AROUND CENTRAL NEW YORK THIS WEEKEND

TULSA, Okla. (July 6, 2009)- The action heats up as the temperatures do the same this weekend for the Lucas Oil ASCS Patriots with two crucial events in the A-Verdi Storage Containers King of Central New York Series.

Brewerton Speedway and Cayuga County Fair Speedway, both tight and racy facilities, will play host to their only Patriot races of the year and should bring with it plenty of cars and fans.

In addition to the uniqueness of the only stops at each of the facilities, this weekend is also different in that it is the first time in Patriot history that races are on just Friday and Sunday in the same weekend. With many of the competitors based near Central New York, teams will be able to regroup after Brewerton on Friday to prepare for the trip to Weedsport on Sunday.

These will be the third and fourth races in the A-Verdi King of CNY Series. Bobby Breen, of Savannah, NY is out in front through the first two events while Bryan Howland, Jared Zimbardi and Jessica Zemken closely follow in the standings. A total of 14 competitors have qualified for both King of CNY races so far and should be considered to be in the mix still for the crown.

Brewerton Speedway hosted their first sprint race in 12 years last season with 2008 ASCS Patriot Champion Bryan Howland, of Auburn, NY, soaring on the top of the track to the win. The speedway had a fast cushion all night last year after rain had fallen earlier in the day. A different forecast could produce a different surface and different names heading forward.

Jared Zimbardi, of Little Valley, NY, currently leads the 2009 Lucas Oil ASCS Patriot standings over Howland. "The Juice" was second to Howland last year both in the final standings as well as at Brewerton.

Chuck Hebing, of Ontario, NY, a two-time Patriot Champion and the all-time series leader in wins, was third in that event. "Cobra" was a modified regular at "The D-Shaped Dirt Demon" through 2004 in modifieds, even when he was a sprint car regular with the Patriots. After an incredible slew of bad luck over the last month, it is time for a turn-around for Hebing.

Local favorites include Dave Wickham and Tim Devendorf who are from Brewerton. Wickham had not run at his hometown track until last year and hopes his luck turns around. Devendorf has been dominant in mod lite action at the 1/3-mile over the last few seasons.

Joe August Jr. from Bridgeport, Jason Barney and Tommy Wickham from Constantia, and Dan Kaszubinski and Brandon Warner from Syracuse and Gordy Button from Kirkville also will make the short trip to the west end of Onieda Lake.

This will also be the first sprint race at Brewerton after the massive upgrades were made to the facility by new owners John and Laura Wight.JNew fencing, grandstand improvements and much more will help to make this a special night.

Cayuga County Fair Speedway in Weedsport always fosters great sprint car action, and that should continue this Sunday. CCFS has hosted six Patriot events over the year, with five of the wins going to seasoned veterans.

In 2008, former Patriot Champion George Suprick, of Clarks Summit, PA, went to Victory Lane in the summer session, holding off the always-competitive Scott Kreutter. In October, Gordy Button bested a 52-car field for his first win in Weedsport in 22 years.

Bobby Breen was also strong in that event, which should bode well for him in the A-Verdi King of CNY pursuit. This is the hometown race both Bobby, and his brother Blake, who reside just up the road in Savannah. It is also the closest speedway to home for Bryan Howland, who is sure to be geared up in his No. 51.

Chuck Hebing is the only multi-time Patriot winner at CCFS. Bubba Broderick, of Brookfield, CT, is also a feature winner at the 3/8-mile facility, but that came in a mini sprint. Broderick is primed though to make a run towards his first career full-sized sprint victory this weekend.

Don Adamczyk, Chris Muhleisen and Gary Troutman are three other familiar Patriot faces that take a liking to Cayuga County. The look to bounce back at the friendly fairgrounds this weekend.

Ray Preston, from Romulus, won his last sprint feature at Cayuga County in 2005 and will look to get back to that position in his No. 22.Among the drivers that are also expected to be on hand as they chase the A-Verdi King of Central NY Crown include Judi Bates, Tim Kelly, Bubby Kerrick, Lance Yonge, Justin Barger and Doug Emery.

It is sure to be a wild weekend, for more information, visit www.ASCSpatriotsprints.com www.ASCSracing.com.
