Patriots Ransomville, Canandaigua preview

ASCS PATRIOTS HIT FAMILIAR SPEEDWAYS THIS WEEKEND

TULSA, Okla. (June 26, 2007)- Last week, the ASCS Patriots ran at the first two tracks to host the series in 2003; this week, they will invade the only two tracks to host the ASCS Patriots at least once a year since 2003.

For the firth straight year, the ASCS Patriots will make appearances at both Ransomville and Canandaigua Speedway, once again this year it is on the popular pre-holiday weekend.

Canandaigua has played host to seven prior ASCS Patriot events, second behind only Black Rock Speedway for most career events. Ransomville has run one race each year, making this the fifth time the Patriots invade "The Big R".

Ransomville

Last year, rain showers soaked the track, but not the racing program.JWith a super-fast surface, Rick Wilson was heroic from ninth place to capture his second win of the year. The track was wicked fast last year, but look for things to move back to their customary slick conditions this Friday, making for fantastic racing and bringing a number of primary names back into the fold.

It is interesting to note that three out of the four ASCS Patriot Champions have won at Ransomville. Billy Krull's only ASCS Patriot win en route to the 2003 title came at the track just minutes from his house. Chuck Hebing drove an underpowered No. 42 owned by his brother, Bill, to one of the most surprising wins in 2004, as he repetitively banged it off the wall to find bite. Bryan Howland won at Ransomville at his Championship year of 2005 in his No. 51.

While those names are always in the mix at the 0x00bd-mile, Ray Preston is known for finding his way to the front in his Shuttleworth Asphalt Sealing No. 22. "Rapid Ray" nearly picked up the win in both 2004 and 2005 with some smooth driving in the Northwest quadrant of New York State. Look for the driver, currently third in points, to be strong again this time around.

Fresh off his first career ASCS Patriot win, Jared Zimbardi is looking to continue making up ground on Chuck Hebing in pursuit of the Championship. Zimbardi has been strong at Ransomville in the past.Among the hometown favorites for this event will be Don Adamczyk from Williamsville and Derek Jonathan from Lewiston.

Canandaigua

Saturday night, the ASCS Patriots travel down the Thruway to the "Land of Legends", the Canandaigua Speedway, for the third A-Verdi King of CNY race of the year. One of the strongest fields of the season is expected for the $1,500-to-win event at one of the Patriots' premier facilities.Chuck Hebing was, in a word, dominant, in the only ASCS Patriot race at the fast 0x00bd-mile last season, a track near and dear to his heart. While "Cobra" is always strong at the closest track to his Ontario, NY home, a track where he won his first two of 21 Patriot A-Mains, there is a star-studded lineup looking to dethrone the No. 45.

Blake and Bobby Breen have historically been strong at a track close to their home and like to go fast, there are few places better to do that than Cananadiagua. Along with the Breens, names like Chris Muhleisen, Geoff Quackenbush and Dave Wickham will be some of the familiar ASCS Patriot faces dicing it up with some drivers making rare appearances.

Jason Barney, Justin Barger and Jessica Zemken are just some of the names expected to be in attendance, in pursuit of the A-Verdi King of CNY Title. These three names were at one point all in the top-three of a race at Canandaigua late last year, so you could expect them all to be strong once again. Barger ended up winning that race by a 0x00bd car over Jessica Zemken. The last time Zemken ran with the Patriots, back on June 2, she was the first ever ASCS A-Main winner.

George Suprick is the only ASCS Patriot Champion not to win at Ransomville, but he has made up for it at Canandaigua. A three-time winner at the Ontario County Fairgrounds, the Clarks Summit, PA driver will attempt to overcome his recent engine problems to make one of his highlight races on the 2007 Schedule.

Canandaiuga will also be the first appearances for names like Blas0x00e9 Regina, Matt and Doug Norrie, and a host of other names. It will also feature the return of CNYMS Star Jared Fink, who ran at Penn Can earlier in June before the rains came.

This will be a busy weekend for the ASCS Patriots, which will be immediately followed by the special Tuesday Night event at Rolling Wheels Raceway.
