Path Valley reschedules Friday race to Sunday

Spring Run_ Two Wheel Promotions has rescheduled the Friday night stock car and sprints race to Sunday, June 15. This marks 20 times this season that the Path Valley Speedway Park has rained out.

Ten of those rainouts were for kart races, and Friday night rainouts do not effect the Saturday afternoon racing, so Path Valley will attempt to stage the season's third kart race Saturday, June 14, followed by the double features strictly stock races for junkyard cars that evening.

The Sunday, June 15, race will be the Father's Day celebration and all of the feature winners are asked to bring thier father's to join them in victory lane for interviews.

Next Friday night, June 20, is public service night and all firemen, policemen, ambulance staff and medics and anyone else with an ID for a job or volunteer position in the public service fields will be admitted free. This is in part a track appreciation of the local volunteers who provide ambulance and medical services at every race and in part a thanks to the volunteer firemen who responded twice to the track last season. The night's races will include all five regular divisions along with the PA 305 Sprints and the Dwarf Cars.

That Saturday will include regular karts and quads races followed Saturday evening, June 21, by a District 6 AMA motorcycle and quad race and a Regional race for the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) with their vintage bikes.

June 27 is the Mike Leidy Memorial race night to remember the Shirleysburg cancer victim who never got to race his new V-8 street stock at Path Valley. Mr. Leidy was a crewmember on the championship Bill Henney #50 team and last fall built a car to race at Path Valley, but succumbed before ever having a chance to drive it. The car and his family will be at the special Memorial.

The Path Valley Speedway Park is located in Spring Run PA a mile north on PA Route 641 from the intersection with PA Route 75, halfway between Port Royal and Hagerstown. It is five miles east from the Willow Hill Exit 14 of the PA Turnpike. The new phone number at the track for promoter Ken Geesey is 717-349-7111. For information on the 2003 schedule and rules, race teams and fans can consult the website at www.pathvalley.com or they can email Two Wheel Promotions at twp@pathvalley.com.

"We are still hostage to the weather," said promoter Ken Geesey, "so teams should check our website at pathvalley.com or call the track at 717-349-7111 for any last minute changes."
