ASCS Rebel Region Wraps Up Season with Florida Double

TULSA, Okla. (November 10, 2008) -- The 2008 year of racing action for the American Sprint Car Series officially comes to a conclusion with this weekend's ASCS Rebel Region championship double in Florida.

On Friday night, the series takes to the 3/8-mile Ocala Speedway clay tri-oval. Then on Saturday night, it's off to Tampa's East Bay Raceway Park for the final event of the season for the ASCS Rebel Region.

Friday's card at Ocala Speedway offers $1,500 to win, with Saturday's finale at East Bay worth $2,000 to the winner.

With five feature wins and no finish lower than sixth in 14 events, Malabar, Florida's Kenny Adams will try to put the finishing touches on the ASCS Rebel Region championship over the course of the weekend.

Adams' closest pursuer in the title race, 68 points back, is 19-year-old Daytona Beach shoe Matt Tiffany, with Malabar racer Bryn Gohn, 19-year-old Washington native Samantha Taylor and Gavin Thomas rounding out the current top five in points.

The balance of the current top ten includes Red Stauffer, Michael Miller, Tyler Godwin, Danny Martin, Jr., and Matt Kurtz.

Eight drivers have reached ASCS Rebel Region in victory lane thus far in 2008, with Matt Tiffany and Danny Martin, Jr., both reaching victory lane on a pair of occasions to join Adams as winners of multiple features. Single wins have been claimed by Bryn Gohn, Michael Miller, Tyler Godwin, Matt Linder and Don Young.

Gohn led the final three rounds after Tiffany encountered problems in the ASCS Rebel stop at Ocala in April, with Danny Martin, Jr., making a last-lap pass of Adams to win the next night at East Bay.
