ASCS Rebels at East Bay on Saturday Night!

TULSA, Okla. (October 28, 2008) -- Florida's Kenny Adams will try to move one step closer to the 2008 American Sprint Car Series Rebel Region championship when the series takes to East Bay Raceway Park's semi-banked, 1/3-mile dirt oval in Tampa, FL, this Saturday night.

"The Malabar Missile" carries a 68-point lead into Saturday's East Bay card with only the series' season finale at Ocala Speedway on November 14 to follow.

Adams has amassed his points lead on the strength of five feature wins in 14 events, with a sixth-place run in the series' most recent event at Georgia's Screven Motor Speedway on September 27 his only placing outside of the top five.

Adams' closest pursuer in the title race is 19-year-old Daytona Beach shoe Matt Tiffany, with Malabar racer Bryn Gohn, 19-year-old Washington native Samantha Taylor and Gavin Thomas rounding out the current top five in points.

The balance of the current top ten includes Red Stauffer, Michael Miller, Tyler Godwin, Danny Martin, Jr., and Matt Kurtz.

Eight drivers have reached ASCS Rebel Region in victory lane thus far in 2008, with Matt Tiffany and Danny Martin, Jr., both reaching victory lane on a pair of occasions to join Adams as winners of multiple features. Single wins have been claimed by Bryn Gohn, Michael Miller, Tyler Godwin, Matt Linder and Don Young.

Danny Martin, Jr., made a last-lap pass of Adams to win the ASCS Rebel Region's April stop at East Bay Raceway Park.

Among Saturday night's contenders will also be 2007 East Bay Raceway Park track champion R.J. Johnson, who was spent the latter portion of the 2008 season wrenching for O'Reilly ASCoT National competitor Kathryne Minter after a season of racing competition in Knoxville, IA.

Saturday's action at East Bay Raceway Park is slated to go green at 6:30 p.m.

East Bay Raceway Park is located in Tampa, FL, off of I-75 Exit 250, then two miles west, then 1.2 mile north on US 41, then right 1.3 miles on Old US 41, then right on Burts Road. For more information, contact the track at 813-677-7223.

The 2008 slate for the ASCS Rebel Region consists of 16 events at a dozen tracks throughout Florida, Georgia, Alabama and North Carolina.

The nation's most prominent Sprint Car sanctioning body with a dozen different Regions throughout the United States in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, the American Sprint Car Series' (ASCS) 17th year of activity will include approximately 250 nights of scheduled racing action at more than 100 different race tracks throughout 28 different states and Canada.
