Ricky Logan awarded "Mr. Sprint Car" title with Southern Iowa Sprintweek Crown.

Knoxville, Iowa (August 11, 2002) - Ricky Logan of Little Rock, Arkansas, was awarded the "Mr. Sprint Car" title last night after eight straight nights of sprint car racing between Knoxville and Oskaloosa and nine feature races in the inaugural Southern Iowa SprintWeek. Logan earned the $1,500 cash bonus by qualifying for the Mopar Parts Knoxville Nationals "A" championship feature, while the week-long point leader Jason Johnson of Eunice, Louisiana, was unable to transfer out of the "B" Main. The Knoxville Raceway 410-cubic-inch sprint car division regular competed in five events this week, including Oskaloosa's Front Row Challenge and Knoxville's Kele World Challenge, and garnered 202 points. Johnson competed in five events, including Knoxville's Brodix 360 c.i. Tournament of Champions and Osky's Front Row Challenge, and earned 186 points.

The Southern Iowa SprintWeek started last Saturday at Knoxville with both 360-cubic-inch (Brian Brown) and 410 c.i. (Tim Kaeding) sprint car features, before progressing with Sunday night's Brodix 360 Tournament of Champions (Josh Higday). Action switched to the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa for Monday's Front Row Challenge (Tyler Walker) and Tuesday's non-winged Ultimate Challenge (Travis Rilat). The twin Knoxville Nationals preliminary features were run on Wednesday (Steve Kinser) and Thursday (Donny Schatz), with Friday's Kele World Challenge main (Donny Schatz) serving as the penultimate round. The 42nd annual Mopar Parts Knoxville Nationals (Steve Kinser) concluded the first-year SprintWeek in southern Iowa. A total of 212 drivers earned points in the 360-cubic-inch, 410 c.i., and non-winged sprint car racing.
