Herrera Turns Tables on Martin in ASCS Rocky Mountain Aztec Final

AZTEC, NM (June 4, 2005) -- Johnny Herrera turned the tables on Jason Martin by snaring victory honors in Saturday night's 25-lap American Sprint Car Series Rocky Mountain Region feature to wrap up Fiesta Days at Aztec Speedway.

After holding off Herrera to top Friday night's prelim, Martin outgunned Herrera to snare the lead at the drop of the green. Martin set the pace the opening six rounds before Herrera took command.

Herrera and Martin diced for the point the rest of the way, swapping positions in the corners several times in the race's mid-stages. Herrera finally got the best of the battle as he took the checkered flag with Martin settling for second.

Gary Taylor claimed the show position, with Patrick Bourke and defending series champion Keith Rauch rounding out the top five. Completing the top ten were Bob Schaeffer, current series point leader Jake Pierson, Nick Haygood, Geoff Dodge and Jesse Baker.

Eric Miller, Pierson and Schaeffer topped heat race action, with Scott Milan winning the "B" Main.
