Miller Mauls ASCS Rocky Mountain Region in Billings Finale

BILLINGS, Mont. (September 18, 2004) - Randi Miller completed a sweep of the weekend's American Sprint Car Series Rocky Mountain Region double at Billings Motorsports Park by scoring a wire-to-wire victory in Saturday night's 30-lap feature.

After topping Friday night's preliminary feature, Miller led the field to the green flag and jumped into the early lead over fellow front row starter Bill Boyce. Boyce gave chase until tangling with a lapped machine at the midway point.

Miller checked out in the final rounds and posted his eighth series triumph of the season aboard Mac White's Carbone-powered Two Dot Tech No. 2d Maxim.

Brent Kronfuss charged past championship point contenders Keith Rauch and Eric Miller for second following Boyce's midrace tangle, only to have Rauch battle back into second in the closing rounds. Kronfuss settled for the show position, with Willie Hernandez and Phil Dietz rounding out the top five.

Eric Miller slipped to sixth at the stripe, thus surrendering the series point lead to Rauch with just one event remaining. Jeremy Sheaffer charged from 18th to seventh, with Joe Wagner, Dean Herman and 20th-starter Jerry Brey completing the top ten.

Mason Hill, Kronfuss, Dietz and Hernandez topped heat race action, with Calvin Stump winning the C Main and Jake Pierson claiming the B Feature victory.

With Rauch holding a meager four point advantage over Eric Miller, the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region championship will be decided next Saturday night at Denver's Rocky Mountain National Speedway.
