Bourke Best in ASCS Rock Mountain Region Final at Sweetwater

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (June 14, 2008) -- Former American Sprint Car Series Rocky Mountain Region champion Patrick Bourke snared his first series win of the season by topping Saturday night's 30-lap main event at Sweetwater Speedway.

Starting from the pole position, Bourke outgunned Greg Schaefer for the point at the drop of the green and led all the way aboard the Dewberry-powered Pro Shocks/Bell Racing No. 27 FabTech-chassis for his fifth career series feature win.

Nineteen-year-old Chad Corken pressured Bourke over the final rounds before settling for second, with Bob Schaeffer, Jeremy McCune and Willy Hernandez rounding out the top five.

Dustin Hall was sixth, with Danielle Ossenfort, Michelle Dodge, Derrik Ortega and Jake Ossenfort completing the top ten.

A pair of red flags interrupted the feature event, with the first red flying after seven laps when Greg Schaefer and Joe McCarthy both flipped after tangling in turn one. Then after 25 laps, rookie contenders Colt Treharn and Ortega tangled in turn four with Dustin Hall sliding to a stop as well. After tipping over, Ortega returned for a top-ten finish.

The lap 25 incident cost Ortega the series points lead however, as Corken escaped the weekend with an eight-point advantage over Ortega.
