ALLEN, TX (February 1) -- The World of Outlaws is mourning the loss of Ronald Laney, who suffered fatal injuries in a crash at East Bay Raceway Wednesday.
"The World of Outlaws is deeply saddened by the loss of Ronald Laney," series President Ted Johnson said. "We extend our deepest, heartfelt condolences to his family. Ronald was a good, young racer, one of the best up and coming drivers in the country."
Laney, 29, was leading the "B" Feature on opening night of the Fourth Annual King of the 360s event when his #52 car was involved in the crash that took his life.
Track owner Stanley Kolan has renamed the event -- one of Laney’s favorites -- the Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s.
Laney, who lived in Humble, TX, finished sixth in the World of Outlaws Gumout Series point standings in its inaugural season and improved to fourth place last year.
