Wright Rolls to O'Reilly ASCS Duke City Triumph

ASCS - ALBUQUERQUE, NM (July 5, 2003) - Gary Wright led wire-to-wire en route to winning at Duke City Raceway Saturday night, posting his eighth O'Reilly American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented by Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores and United Trailers feature triumph of the season.

Wright jumped into the lead at the outset and was in control throughout aboard the Salina-powered Southwest Express/The Shop/Richwood Construction Maxim. Travis Rilat was chasing down Wright in the closing rounds, but fell three car lengths short at the checkered flag.

Toby Brown held down the third position until the final round when a tangle with a lapped car cost him several positions. Darren Stewart assumed the show position, escaping the weekend with a slim four point lead over Rilat in the series' point chase. Rickey Hood was fourth, with current ASCS Rocky Mountain Region point leader Randi Miller rounding out the top five.

Cody Branchcomb crossed the stripe in sixth, with Nick Haygood in seventh. Brown settled for eighth, with Bud Goodwin and B Feature winner Zach Chappell completing the top ten.
