(LAKE PERRIS, CA AUGUST 27, 2001) Southern California racing fans can enjoy four different varieties of racing at Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday and Sunday night. The SCRA Sprint Cars, Ramona Tire PASSCAR Stock Cars, California Champ Trucks and Pick-A-Part Cruisers.

Sunday's SCRA program will be capped by a 50-lap main event. Ventura's Cory Kruseman has been on a tear at the PAS of late and has won six races in a row on the brightly lit clay oval. The last time another driver (Mike Kirby) won an SCRA main at The PAS was May 27th, the night of the Indianapolis 500!

In last Saturday's 30-lap feature, it looked like Kruseman's record-breaking victory streak at The PAS would end at five. The popular 30-year-old had to start eighth in the main event, but by the end of lap two, he found himself in fourth. Kruseman worked his way up to second and after a late race yellow flag, he passed race long leader Rodney Argo, of Gardena, for his twelfth SCRA triumph of the year. That victory leaves him one win shy of Rip Williams all-time SCRA single season record of 13.

In addition to the normal cast of contenders, Kruseman will have to battle with Corona's Tony Jones on Sunday night. Jones, who won last year's Oval Nationals at The PAS, has been on the sidelines for much of the 2001 campaign after parting company with longtime car owner Gene Cowherd. However, last Saturday evening Jones showed up in Inland Empire car owner Mike Wall's Avenger Chassis/Snyder Engines #37 for the first time. The second-generation star qualified sixth fastest and ended up sixth in the main event while getting acquainted with his new ride.

Saturday's show is a triple-header featuring the Ramona Tire PASSCAR Stock Cars, California Champ Trucks and the unpredictable Pick-Part-Cruisers.

The Ramona Tire PASSCAR Stock Cars are full-bodied cars built especially for dirt track racing. Series point leader and 1999 Track Champion, Rick Arringdale of Victorville, seeks to extend his point over Murrieta's Mike Hixson on Saturday night. After Saturday, the PASSCAR Stocks have five races remaining in 2001.

The California Champ Trucks are full sized racing pick up trucks and SUVs with fiberglass bodies. Corona's Todd Cunningham, the all-time leading winner in the series and defending PAS Champion, is zeroing in on his second title with only five races remaining in the 2001 campaign.

Finishing off Saturday's card at The PAS will be the popular Pick-A-Part Cruisers. The Cruisers happen to be among the strangest vehicles in racing today. It takes two drivers to drive them! The person sitting in the driver's seat controls the steering wheel and brakes. The person in the passenger seat controls the throttle. Mix in the facts that the turns are watered just before the Cruiser race to make them like an ice rink and there are no yellow flags and you have some of the most unpredictable, crowd pleasing action in racing today.

Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday.

Perris Auto Speedway is located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds. Take the 215 Freeway, exit at the Ramona Expressway and go east two miles to the fairgrounds.
