Rodney Duncan, Gary Wright, & Kerry Jones Enter 1200-Lb. Nationals
KNOXVILLE, IOWA (JUNE 29, 2001) - Over one hundred heavy- hitters from the world of sprint car racing have entered the July 27-28 "1,200-Pound Nationals" at Knoxville Raceway, according to office manager Arleta Voyce. The latest champions to join the fray are Ohioan Rodney Duncan of the All Star Circuit of Champions (ASCoC), Texan Gary Wright of the National Championship Racing Association (NCRA), and New Zealand 'invader' Kerry Jones. In addition, entries have been recently received from Dennis Moore, Jr., of Iowa, Jerry Richert, Jr., of Minnesota, Scott Neitzel of Wisconsin, and Mike Wagner of Pennylvania for the national championship for winged 1,200-pound, 410-cubic-inch sprint cars.
The two-day 1,200-Pound Nationals, sponsored by the Newton Days Inn and Justice Brothers, will be co-sanctioned by Knoxville, ASCoC, NCRA and the Interstate Racing Association (IRA). Non- affiliated drivers, like entrants Kerry Jones, Kasey Kahne and Ryan Flynn, are also welcome to compete for the $3,000 and $12,000 first place monies, respectively, on Friday and Saturday nights.
Fans wishing to monitor the growing entry list on-line are urged to click on the track's web-site, www.knoxvilleraceway.com. Those who are not able to attend the inaugural show, but who want to support it can send a contribution to the "Challenge of Champions Fund", P.O. Box 347, Knoxville, Iowa 50138. The entire fund will be split amongst the drivers from the winning 'team' based on the results of Friday night's "Challenge of Champions" invitational feature. According to Arleta Voyce, "Maybe now this will answer the question, 'Who has the better drivers... All Stars? NCRA? Knoxville? IRA? Or the Invaders'?"
