Milikowski captures the 600. Its Holley again in the 270 event.

Patrick Milikowski, the young and talented driver from Somers, CT. has been close to victory numerous times this year in the very competitive 600 division. On this Saturday nite, he would not be denied as he roared to his first 600 win of the year. Milikowski, along with his family, make a 750 mile 12 hour round trip from their home each weekend to compete in the 600 division at the speedway. Starting on the pole, Milikowski immediately assumed command. Paul Hively, making his first appearance of the speedway began to his way thru the field from his fifth starting spot. A caution flag on lap12 would bunch up the field, but Milikowski was able to drive away and hang on for a 3 car length victory over Hively, who looked very impressive in his first appearance. Coming home third was Alex Bright, while William Racine grabbed fourth and Kerry Schanz completed the top five. Sixth thru tenth were Dustin Foust, Mark Strickler, Justin Hively, Zachary Newlin, and Kevin Lamphere. Heats went to Bright and Jim Dawson.

In Wingless 270 action, it was Duncannon, Pa's Mike Holley becoming the first 3 time winner this year. B.J. Brehm grabbed the early lead from her ouside pole spot. Bo Gordon, who started alongside of B.J, took over on lap 3. Holley, who started fourth wasted little time moving into the runnerup spot on lap six. From there the top two, along with Marcus Defrieitas would battle for several laps. A caution on lap 13 would slow down the action, and on the restart, the bad luck bug would again bite Gordon, when something on his mount would let go in turn two allowing Holley to take command, and send Gordon pitside. Once Holley took over, he would drive to a five car length victory over Defrieitas. The Brehm family of B.J. and her dad Rick, would wage their own battle for third, with Rick taking over on lap 18 and hold it until the finish over B.J.. Coming home fifth was last weeks winner Patrick Milikowski. The heat was taken by B.J. Brehm.

In other action, it was local driver Keith Armolt capturing his first victory of the year in a thrilling Thunder car feature. Donald Stoudt, who started on the point, battled Abe Edwards for the lead and assumed command on lap four. Armolt, who started the main in fourth dropped back several spots, then began to make his move forward. Several cautions would slow the action down, but certainly did not stop it, as Armolt was able to take over from Stoudt on lap 19 following a late race caution on lap 18 and win by a car length. Stoudt hung on for second, third went to Lyle Barnes, while Chris Smith and Russ Clavey completed the top five. Sixth thru tenth were Mike Brindle, Terry Smith, Donny Stine, Abe Edwards, and Jason Jumper. Heats went to Brindle and Barnes

In Mini Stock action, it was Hagerstown, Md's Mike Kershner making it back to back victories. Kershner, who started up front took the lead from the drop of the green and never looked back. He was able to maintain a five car length lead throughout the event. The real excitement was for spots two thru six, as these car ran under a blanket for much of the race. In the end, it Ronnie Buck taking command of second by lap 15, but was unable to run down Kershner. Third went to Larry Long, while Charles Wengerd captured fourth and Mike Crate was very impressive grabbing a top five while coming from the rear of the field. Sixth thru tenth were Grant Adams, Bryan Neff, Dave Edwards, Gary Newell, and Joe Linn. In victory lane, an emotional Kershner dedicated his victory to his car owner who passed away over the winter. Mini Stock heats were won by Buck and Wengerd.

In Thunder Front action, it was John Henry from Ducanon, PA. holding on for a victory. Henry, who started on the outside of the front row,jumped out to a large lead. Second place Bill Sherwood settled into second and looked like it was going to be all Henry. However in the closing laps, traffic from the back markers proved interesting as Henry got caught up in it and that allowed Sherwood to close rapidly and make the finish close. At the line, it was Henry by 2 lengths over Sherwood. Carl McCarty came home third, followed by Gary Guise and Matt Starliper. Henry was the heat winner.

Next week the Modified Lites return to join the regular program.

In other news, it was announced that Mid-Atlantic Of MD, the Hoosier Tire Distributor for the reason, had agreed to sponsor the Wingless National in August.
