Sprint Bandits Headline Sprint Car Spectacular Saturday at Devil's Bowl

TULSA, Okla. (October 11, 2004) - Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX, is the place to be this Saturday night as the O'Reilly Sprint Bandits headline the night's Sprint Car double with its inaugural season finale. Also on Saturday night's card will be the Second Annual American Sprint Car Series Gulf South vs. Sooner Region Shootout, as three series champions will be determined atop the famed half-mile black clay oval.

While Bixby, Oklahoma's Shane Stewart carries a 38-point lead over Travis Rilat into the Sprint Bandits season finale, both ASCS Regional point battles are up for grabs in the final event of the season.

While a finish of 18th or better will secure the O'Reilly Sprint Bandits championship for Stewart, he will also be aiming for his second series triumph of the season over a stout field of competitors including Rilat, Sammy Swindell, Gary Wright, Danny Jennings, Zach Chappell, Danny Wood, Aaron Berryhill, Jason Martin, Foster Landon, Tony Bruce, Jr., Wayne Johnson and Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., among others.

Ft. Worth's Kevin Ramey, who trails Oklahoma City shoe Andy Shouse by just 8 markers in the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region points battle entering Saturday night's shootout versus the Gulf South Region, will try to defend his 2003 Gulf South vs. Sooner Shootout victory.

While Ramey and Shouse fight it out for the Sooner Region title, the battle for the Gulf South crown is a three-way affair involving Jerry Bell, Chris Sweeney and Greg Rilat. Only 22 points separate those three drivers in the Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores ASCS Gulf South Region, which is also in action Friday night at Waco's Heart O' Texas Speedway.

Ramey and Shouse will be joined by other Sooner Regions shoes including Sean McClelland, Tony Bruce, Jr., Preston Peebles II, Foster Landon, J.P. Bailey, Danny Jennings, Danny Wood, Barry McCord, Brian Harvill, Jason Martin and Nick Smith, while Gulf South entries will include Kelly Angelette, Todd Johnson, Stephen Chevallier, Ray Allen Kulhanek, Brad Stokes, Scottie McDonald, Richard Holt, Brandon Corn and Rod Craddock.

Kevin Swindell, son of Sprint Car racing icon Sammy Swindell, is slated to make his ASCS debut in Saturday night's Sooner vs. Gulf South Region Shootout as well.

Saturday night's racing action is slated to get under way at 8:00 p.m. Devil's Bowl Speedway is located six miles east of Dallas' I-635 on US 80, then three miles south on Lawson Road. For more information, contact the track at 972-222-2421.
