O'Reilly Sprint Bandits Set for Pivotal Memorial Day Weekend Triple

TULSA, Okla. (May 24, 2004) - In what could prove to be a pivotal weekend in the inaugural O'Reilly Sprint Bandits championship points chase, the series is geared up for three nights of intense action over the Memorial Day holiday weekend in Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska.

The competitive 410-ci O'Reilly Sprint Bandits take to the lightning-fast US 36 Raceway in Cameron, MO, on Friday night, before moving on to the legendary Knoxville Raceway at the Marion County Fairgrounds in Iowa on Saturday night. The weekend triple wraps up as the series makes its first appearance in Nebraska with a Sunday night outing at Rising City's Butler County Speedway.

Bixby, OK, hotshoe Shane Stewart, celebrating his 28th birthday on Tuesday, May 24, leads the series points chase entering the weekend on the strength of a runner-up finish along with a pair of fifth place runs in the series opening three events.

Stewart holds a slim ten point advantage in the title chase over 22-year-old Talala, OK, ace Zach Chappell, a former ASCS National champion. Other top contenders expected for all three nights of fast-paced action include Norman, Oklahoma's Danny Jennings, currently ranked fourth in points, and fifth-ranked Jerrod Hull of Sikeston, MO, along with defending ASCS National champion Travis Rilat, nine-time NCRA Outlaw Sprint Car champion Gary Wright, Aaron Berryhill, Foster Landon, Nick Smith, Jason Martin, Wayne Johnson, Jesse Hockett, Sean Walden and five-time Knoxville Raceway champion Terry McCarl.

The series' innovative format of heat races followed by a like number of fully-inverted qualifying races, with combined points from heat and qualifiers utilized to determine feature lineups, will be in effect for all three nights of racing action.
