KNOXVILLE, IOWA (NOVEMBER 13, 2002) - The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Iowa, is pleased to announce the names of the 38 nominees for its 'class of 2003'. Final balloting by the 76-member National Induction Committee is currently underway and the twelve individuals who will be enshrined on May 31, 2003, will be announced on Thursday, December 5, at the Westin Hotel in Indianapolis as part of the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show. The list of nominees is as follows:

DRIVER CATEGORY:

Chuck Amati, J.C. "Duke" Dinsmore, Glenn Fitzcharles, Elmer George, Fred Horey, Keith Kauffman, Hal Minyard, Kelly Petillo, Francis Quinn, Hal Robson, Bud Rose, Bryan Saulpaugh, Sammy Sessions, Ron Shuman, Ray Tilley, Bill Utz, Billy Wilkerson, Billy Winn, Doug Wolfgang, Jay Woodside.

OWNER/MECHANIC/BUILDER/MANUFACTURER CATEGORY:

Clarence "Mutt" Anderson, Don Brown, Jim Culbert, Al Hamilton, Ralph Morgan, Robert Roof, Don Shepherd, Dick Simonek, Kenny Woodruff.

PROMOTER/OFFICIAL/MEDIA MEMBER CATEGORY:

According to National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum executive director Thomas Schmeh, "We are very proud of the work of our National Induction Committee in coming up with a quality slate of nominees from the many regions of our country. And we are again excited about announcing the inductees at our annual National Sprint Car Poll awards reception at the Indy Westin on Thursday, December 5. The casual reception is free and open to those in the sprint car racing industry, and will be hosted by our outstanding banquet emcees Dave Argabright and Pat Sullivan."
