Krike! Irwin Wins Second Straight ASCS Sprints on Dirt Feature

T.J. Buffenbarger, CRYSTAL, Mich. (July 15, 2006) -- Steve Irwin continued his hot streak in Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz competition by scoring the 30-lap feature win during the Mid-Season Championship Saturday night at Crystal Motor Speedway. The triumph marked Irwin's third feature victory in ASCS Sprints on Dirt competition this season.

Since Irwin came back on the tour at Merritt Speedway, he has not finished outside the top five of any feature event. Irwin continued that domination at Crystal by sitting on the front row and leading every lap.

"This Campbell-powered Maxim is really going well right now", said Irwin in victory lane. "I haven't won here (at Crystal) in a long time. I just hope we can keep running this well."

Irwin got a tremendous jump at the start and dominated the 30-lap feature. Behind him, Gary Fast worked into the second spot. Fast had opportunities with a pair of caution flags to close up the gap, but could not challenge Irwin. Fast held onto the second spot over tenth-starter Brett Mann, Dustin Daggett, and Bill Johnson.

Gregg Dalman, Ryan Grubaugh, defending series champion Tim Norman, Mike Galajda and Kevin Atkins completed the top ten.

Irwin, Joe Bares and Norman won heat race events for the 27 cars on hand. Ryan Grubaugh won the "B" Main.

Next weekend, the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz travel north on Friday to Cherry Speedway in Fife Lake, MI, followed by the second appearance of 2006 at Merritt Speedway near Lake City, MI, on Saturday.
