Montgomery leds Worley in Sprint Car championship race at SFCR.

FARMINGTON, Mo. -- (Sept. 7, 2002) With just a couple of weeks left in the points season at the St. Francois County Raceway, Timmy Montgomery of Fredericktown has opened a small lead in the sprint car class points race following his feature win Saturday night.

Montgomery has won back-to-back track championships and now holds a slight lead over Tommy Worley Jr. of Bismarck with just two weeks remaining in the points season.

In the feature, Montgomery took the checkered flag with Worley Jr. earning second place, Timmy Moss third, Jay Landolt fourth and Ronnie Standridge fifth. They were followed by Bob Thoman, Casey Barnhouse, Lowe Cannell and Jason Hunt.

Landolt won the first heat race with Barnhouse second and Greg Burns third. Joey Montgomery won the second heat with Jason Keith second and A.J. Bruns third. Rod Crabdree won the third heat with Worley Jr. second and Jeremy Standridge third. Moss won heat four with Timmy Montgomery second and Thoman third. Shawn King won the "B" main with Derek Rossro second and Danny Long third. Timmy Montgomery won the dash with Moss second and Joey Montgomery third.

The MARA Midgets were also at SFCR for the second of their two visits this season and Joey Montgomery once again shined in a non-wing event as he won the feature. Steve Knepper captured second place with Mike Hess third, Rich Camfield fourth and Craig Carey fifth. They were followed by Tim Siner, Kory Weyant, Al Cole, Kenny Brown and Bill Allen.

In the 600cc Multi class, Dustin Barks was the feature winner with Brett Anderson second, Korey Weyant third, Brad Loyett fourth and Daniel Adler fifth. They were followed by Kent Buckley, Josh Kennedy, Joey Boyd and Jeremy Boyer. Barks won the first heat with Kevin Bess second and Loyett third. Buckley won the second heat with Kennedy second and Mark Maurer third. Tommy Boyd won the third heat with Joey Boyd second and Tyler Robbins third. Adler won the fourth heat with Weyant second and Tadd Roach third. Brent Anderson won the "B" main with Boyer second and Jimmy Bridgeman third.

In the Hobby Stock class, Chuck Adams of Piedmont wrapped up the track championship for 2002 following his feature win Saturday night, his third feature win in as many weeks. Matt Eaton captured second place in the feature with Karl Francis third, Kasey Nations fourth and Kenny Harris fifth. They were followed by Jeremy Greenwalt, Brad Mashek, Chris Boyd, Kevin Mosier and Mike Francis.

Adams won the first heat race with Mashek second and Greenwalt third. Eaton won the second heat with Karl Francis second and Nations third. This Saturday night all four regular classes (sprints, modifieds, hobby stocks and 600cc multis) will be in action. Gates open at 4 p.m. with racing at 7.
