DELMAR, DE - Sean Michael of Allentown, PA has it all together, and last Saturday night at the Delaware International Raceway, he once again dominated a field of talented URC competitors. Michael took the lead on lap fourteen from Brian Brittingham, then held off a late race bid from Becca Anderson, to earn the win. The event, sponsored by Taylor & Messick, was the sixth win of the season and sixteenth career victory for the 1997 URC Champion. A field of thirty-two URC sprint cars took part in the program with heat race victories going to Sean Michael, Curt Michael and Dave McGough as Scott Pursell rallied home the winner of the consolation event. In the twenty-five lap URC BAR'S Leaks sprint feature, Brian Brittingham set the early pace with Tom Freschetta and Becca Anderson hot in the chase. Anderson, who won the previous Delaware International URC show, moved into second on lap three. By lap six, Sean Michael was in the top five. Brittingham remained the pace setter with Anderson second. By lap nine, Michael was third and closing quickly on the two front runners. At the halfway mark, Brittingham, Anderson, Michael, Kramer Williamson and Tom Freschetta were the top five. How quickly things can change, and just one lap later, Michael moved from third to the lead. Anderson followed Michael to take second, dropping Brittingham to third. Williamson and Freschetta followed with Dave McGough and Curt Michael now moving into the picture. Dave McGough moved into the fifth spot on lap nineteen. With just five laps remaining and the leaders quickly approaching slower traffic, Michael, Anderson, Brittingham and Williamson were racing under a blanket. Anderson tried to use slower traffic to her advantage and take a shot at the lead, but each time, Michael was faster off the corner. As the field exited turn four on lap twenty-four, Brittingham spun while racing in third. As the yellow flag was displayed, runner-up Becca Anderson made contact with Bill Case, causing a chain reaction involving Tim Eldreth and Tim Higgins, with those three cars flipping in turn one. Case was later taken to the hospital for a check-up. In a one lap dash to the checker flag, Sean Michael was the quickest, with Anderson finishing second on a flat tire. Kramer Williamson was third with Dave McGough fourth and Curt Michael fifth.
