Adams Takes 12th USCS Win At Dixie

WOODSTOCK, GA - Kenny Adams of Malabar, FL took his third straight United Sprint Car Series win on Saturday night, and his 12th of the season at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA in front of a packed house. The "Malabar Missile" started fifth, and then drove his Goodson Farms Shaw/Ott into the lead on lap four, and led the rest of the way in the 25-lap main event.

Adams broke the Dixie Speedway domination of Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN. Gray was looking for his fourth straight USCS win at Dixie Speedway.

The defending and three-time USCS National Champion suffered a mechanical problem while running second and trying to chase down Adams. Gray dropped out on lap 17 and finished 17th in the Goodson Farms/Wendy's Maxim/Wesmar. Gray received the Weld Racing Hard Luck Award with his misfortune.

Danny Martin Jr. of Sarasota, FL led one lap, but had to settle for second in the Martin Structures, Inc. Schnee/ZRE. Jeremy Scott of Franklin, GA started 15th and finished third in the Vortex Bar and Grill Pro Lite/June Bug. Ryan Myers of Eaton, OH posted his second straight top five finish with a fourth-place effort in the Garrett Farms Stealth/Garrett.

Doug Day of Winder, GA finished fifth in the Gotta Race Eagle/Dingler, and Brice Wrenn of Lexington, SC charged up from the 18th starting spot to finish sixth in the Stainless Fabricators Hench/Gaerte. Scott and Wrenn shared the Huggins Race Cams Hard charger of the Race Award. Wrenn also picked up the FSR Performance Award.

Polesitter Daryl Smith of Riverview, FL led the first two laps of the race in the Buddy's Home Furnishings Beaberbuilt/Gaerte, and finished seventh. Jim Raptis of Marietta, GA took the eighth spot in the ERI Maxim/ERI, and Chris Hill of Wedowee, AL was ninth in the Hill Brothers Air and Hydraulics Challenger/Slobuilt. Bobby Courtwright of Evans, GA rounded out the top ten in the K&N Filters Clincher/Victory.

Smith took the lead at the start of the race followed by Martin, Tom Winegardner Jr. of Pierson, FL, Gray, and Adams. Chad Allum of Kannapolis, NC brought out the first of seven caution flags when he spun his Heintz Automotive Allum/Allum off the bottom of turn four on lap two.

Smith led Martin into turn one on the restart, but Winegardner pushed up the banking in turn two, as Gray and Adams moved up to third and fourth respectively. Winegardner spun his Snap-On Tools J&J/WRP in turn three to bring out the second caution flag on lap three.

On the restart, Martin worked inside Smith to take the lead. Adams then got busy and passed Gray and Smith for second on lap three, and then drove around Martin to take the point on lap four. Gray used lapped traffic to pick off Martin for the second spot on lap nine. Scott had also worked his way into the top five by lap nine.

Red Stauffer of Winter Park, FL hit the fourth turn wall with his CB Mushrooms Shaw/Ott on lap 14 to bring out caution flag. Gray was camped out on Adams rear nerf bar for the restart, and look like he might give Adams a run for his money after the restart.

Gray suddenly slowed on the track on lap 17, and coasted to a stop on the backstretch. Gray restarted his car, but after taking the green, he slowed again after the restart, and spun coming off the fourth turn to bring out the caution flag. That moved Martin back up behind Adams for the restart, but "The Hammer" couldn't mount a challenge on Adams for the lead.

Adams made it a "clean sweep" for the night as he also won the six-lap Air Flow Research Power Dash, and the second eight-lap heat race. Gray won the first eight-lap heat race, and Martin won the third eight-lap heat race. R.J. Johnson of Decatur, TN finished 13th in the Leaf Race Wear/Pin Rings J&J/ZRE and was the Rookie of the Race.

The next two events for the USCS Outlaw Thunder Dirt Tour will be at Crossville's Raceway USA in Crossville, TN on August 13, and at 311 Motor Speedway in Madison, NC on August 14. The more USCS information, visit the series website at www.uscsracing.com.
