FAYETTEVILLE, GA - The defending and three-time United Sprint Car Series National Champion Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN takes a 12-point lead in the USCS National standings into the next two USCS events in Swainsboro, GA on April 23, and Savannah, GA on April 24. Although Gray has yet to visit the winner's circle, consistency has been Gray's ally.

After the first five USCS National events of the season, Gray has posted three top-five finishes, including two second-place efforts, and a third-place showing. Chasing Gray in national points is Kenny Adams of Malabar, FL, who is coming on strong with two straight wins in his last two outings in Travelers Rest, SC on April 2, and Batesburg, SC on April 3.

The only thing between "The Malabar Missile" and the point lead is a 20th-place finish on March 27 in Braselton, GA. Adams also posted a top ten finish in February in Barberville, FL.

Curt Michael of Ocean View, DE is third in National points after competing in four of the first five races. Michael has two top five finishes. Bryce Wrenn of Lexington, SC has also competed in four events, and is fourth in National points. Wrenn has turned in one top five finish, and two top tens. Danny Martin Jr. of Sarasota, FL rounds out the top five in National points with two top tens.

The second five in the USCS National points chase are Tom Winegardner Jr. of Pierson, FL, Red Stauffer of Winter Park, FL, R.J. Johnson of Wesley Chapel, FL, Butch Pendergrass of Winston-Salem, NC, and Chad Allum of Kanapolis, NC. Johnson is the top USCS Rookie of the Year candidate in the point standings.

USCS is unique in that it has four point series and separate point funds for each series. In addition to the National Series which encompasses both dirt and asphalt tracks, USCS also has the Outlaw Thunder Dirt Tour, the Asphalt Thunder Tour, and the Sunbelt Tour.

Adams leads the USCS Outlaw Thunder Dirt Point Standings by 14 points over Michael, followed by Gray, who is 12 points behind Michael after four events. Wrenn is fourth, 10 points behind Gray, and Martin trails Wrenn by eight points from the fifth spot. Both wins so far this season for Adams have come on the dirt at Riverside Speedway and I-20 Speedway.

Sixth through tenth in the USCS Outlaw Thunder Dirt points are Winegardner, Stauffer, Johnson, Phil Mott of Hinsdale, NY, and Chad Kemenah of Findlay, OH, who posted a win in Barberville, FL at Volusia Speedway Park during February Speedweeks.

Gray leads the Sunbelt Tour points chase by 32-points over Adams. The three Sunbelt Tour events have been held on the asphalt at Lanier National Speedway in Braselton, GA, and on the dirt Riverside Speedway and I-20 Speedway. Pendergrass is third in Sunbelt points, 20 points behind Adams, and eight points behind Pendergrass is Allum in fourth.

Scott Young of Mooresville, NC is fifth, followed by Wrenn, Mott, Josh Weller of Mertztown, PA, Randy Helton of Palmetto, GA, and Michael. Johnson is the top rookie candidate, and is 17th in Sunbelt Tour points.

Doug Berryman of Mansfield, OH won the Lanier asphalt show and leads the USCS Asphalt Thunder point standings. Gray is second, with Ted Williams of Atlanta, GA in the third spot. Brad Davis of Rutherfordton, NC is fourth, and Jim Raptis of Marietta, GA rounds out the top five.

Joey "The Ace" Aguilar of Tampa, FL is sixth with Joe Rebman of Mansfield, OH, Frank Neill of Vickery, OH, Troy DeCaire of Tampa, FL, and Jimmy Taylor of Green Pond, SC rounding out the top ten respectively. DeCaire leads the USCS Asphalt Thunder Rookie of the Year points.

The next two USCS events will carry National, Outlaw Thunder and Sunbelt Tour points. USCS will stop at Swainsboro Speedway in Swainsboro, GA on April 23, and then move east on I-16 to Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Savannah, GA on April 24.

The next two USCS Asphalt Thunder event will be on April 30 and May 1, and will also carry National Series and Sunbelt Tour points. The USCS pavement pounders will visit Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, NC on April 30, and then move to the Motor Mile Speedway (formerly known as New River Valley Speedway) in Radford, VA on May 1.
