Gray Extends USCS National Points Lead
FAYETTEVILLE, GA - Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN won the United Sprint Car Series event on Saturday night at Lancaster Motor Speedway in Lancaster, SC and took a big lead in his quest for his fourth straight USCS National Championship. Gray now has a 156-point lead over Kenny Adams of Malabar, FL, who missed Saturday night's event due to a family commitment.
Gray has three wins in 11 starts, with nine top five finishes. Gray is the only USCS driver that has entered all 11 USCS events held so far this season.
Danny Martin Jr. of Sarasota, FL came home with a second-place finish in Lancaster, and closed to within 42 points of Adams. Martin has five top five finishes, and eight top ten finishes in ten starts. The 18-year-old driver, who will graduate from high school this Saturday night, is also the USCS Huggins Cams Hard Charger points leader.
R.J. Johnson of Wesley Chapel, FL remains in the fourth spot in USCS National points, and is the leading USCS Rookie of the Year Candidate. The 16-year-old second-generation driver has competed in ten USCS National events with two top ten finishes.
Brice Wrenn of Lexington, SC is in the fifth spot in USCS National points, and has competed in all seven USCS Outlaw Thunder Dirt events. Wrenn posted his fifth top ten finish of the season on Saturday night in Lancaster, SC, to go with two top five finishes.
Despite taking a wild flip on Saturday night in Lancaster, Bill Moore of Denver, NC stays in the sixth spot in USCS National points with four top ten finishes in seven starts. Butch Pendergrass of Winston-Salem, NC turned in his best finish of the season on Saturday night with a third-place effort. Pendergrass is seventh in points with one top five, and three top tens in seven starts.
Tom Winegardner Jr. of Pierson, FL is eighth in the USCS National points, and Chad Allum of Kannapolis, NC moved into the top ten in the USCS National points chase with his first top ten finish of the season on Saturday night to vault him into the ninth spot. Red Stauffer of Winter Park, FL rounds out the top ten in the USCS National points.
The next two events for USCS will be on Volunteer State dirt tracks. On May 29, the USCS Outlaw Thunder Dirt Tour will visit Garnertown Speedway in Luray, TN. Then on May 30, the series moves to Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, TN for their "Salute To The Armed Forces" event.
