Kent and others joined the San Jose Speedway regulars (who have been transplanted to Watsonville because of the Santa Clara County Fair happening for a couple weeks) to test out Watsonville's new clay in preparation for the NARC Golden State Challenge season finale here on September 24.
Also, Kent will be at the upcoming Knoxville Nationals in Tennessee.
The sprint car race was one of the best ever at the track, with Kent making a miraculous outside, over-the-cushion pass exiting the final turn, snatching the victory from Day. Those last 200 feet were all Kent ever led.
Miller's record is nearly half a second off the previous mark, which was held by Green.
