Jeff Courtney piloted his No. 99 Kenda Tire/RecStuff.com Audi R8 Ultra to the podium with a third place finish in GT-A in Round 2 of the Pirelli World Challenge at the 40th Annual Long Beach Grand Prix on April 13th, 2014.

Coming off a top-five finish in Round 1, the JCR Motorsports team did a fantastic job preparing the No. 99 Kenda Tires/RecStuff.com Audi R8 Ultra for the tight street course in Long Beach and felt confident entering the weekend.

“A big thanks goes out to John, Gary, Rick, Juan and Julius. The team worked really hard to perform a complete setup change before the first practice” said Courtney.

Courtney started out strong in the first practice session of the weekend placing fourth with a fast lap time of 1.24.402. The JCR Motorsports team felt they could continue to improve the car throughout the weekend. Unfortunately, circumstances would not allow for a clean lap in qualifying which left the team a little disappointed in their 6th place position in the GT-A starting grid.

“Unfortunately a couple over-anxious cars jumped past me on the warm-up lap and blocked me during qualifying. I was disappointed and a little upset but knew I would be able to improve on my position during the race” said Courtney.

Again Courtney was very fortunate to have a great standing start and was able to cleanly advance through the fast and competitive field. At the end of the shortened 45-minute sprint race Courtney scored a third place finish, in GT-A and 12th place overall. Courtney’s finish places him third in the GT-A championship points.

“All around it was a great effort by our JCR Motorsports team,” said Courtney. “I am happy to get all of my sponsors including Kenda Tires/RecStuff.com on the podium at any race but especially at this historic event. We still have some work to do but I am looking forward to the continued development of our Audi R8 Ultra and the further cohesion of our new team at Barber Motorsports Park.”

JCR Motorsports heads to Barber Motorsports Park for Rounds 3&4 of the Pirelli World Challenge series on April 24th-27th, 2014. The double-header weekend marks the series inaugural visit to the beautiful 2.38 mile, 15-turn facility.
