TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (September 28, 2010) -- This weekend, October 1-3, Miller Motorsports Park will host its final professional racing events of the 2010 season and is providing fans with an interesting and diverse lineup to enjoy.
On Friday and Saturday, October 1-2, the Eastern and Western divisions of the World Extreme Rock Crawling Championship (W.E.ROCK) will come together at MMP's unique rock-crawling facility to determine their National Champions. Four different classes of vehicles will seemingly defy the laws of gravity as they attack the treacherous man-made terrain in the seven-acre facility to battle for championship honors.
The W.E.ROCK event will get underway at 9:00 a.m. both days and will end at approximately 9:00 -- 10:00 p.m. each evening.
On Saturday and Sunday, October 2-3, the SCCA Pro Racing World Challenge Championship will present "Sports Car Wars" presented by the Viper Club of America. Making its first visit to MMP since 2008, the World Challenge is comprised of three classes of cars with a little something for everyone. Participating cars include Dodge Viper, Chevrolet Corvette, Volvo S60 and Porsche 911 GT3 (GT class); BMW M3 and 325i, Ford Mustang FR500S, Acura TSX and RSX, Chevrolet Corvette, Porsche Cayman and Dodge SRT-4 (GTS class); and Scion tC, Mazda RX-8 and Mazdaspeed3, Volkswagen GTI and Jetta GLI, Honda Civic Si and Acura RSX (TC class). This will be the season finale for the World Challenge competitors, and all three class championships have already been decided. As a result, the gloves will be off and the "Sports Car Wars" will live up to its name as everyone tries to end the season atop the victory podium.
The SCCA Pro Racing World Challenge Championship will practice on Saturday, with qualifying scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. Their one-hour feature race on the 3.048-mile Outer Course will take the green flag at 2:55 p.m. on Sunday. Supporting events will include the Viper Racing League and the Dodge Viper Cup, both of which will race on both Saturday and Sunday on the 2.24-mile East Course.
Guests attending the W.E.ROCK event will enter the facility through the South Gate, and tickets are priced at $15 per day or $25 for the weekend. Kids 12 and under are admitted free of charge.
Guests attending the SCCA World Challenge "Sports Car Wars" presented by the Viper Club of America will enter the facility through the North gate, and tickets will be priced at $6 per day. Kids 12 and under are admitted free of charge. Fans who visit MMP's Facebook page and "like" MMP will receive four free tickets to the event upon presentation of a photo ID.
