FELLOWS LEADS CANADIAN DOMINATION AT MOSPORT

Canadians Finish Atop The Podium At Mosport

The final day of Mosport's Victoria Day SpeedFest saw non-stop action and memorable returns to Mosport for two Canadian drivers, Ron Fellows in the World Challenge and Ken Wilden in the SCCA Trans-Am Series.

In the World Challenge Championship, Mississauga native Ron Fellows returned to Mosport after a three-year absence to take the checker flag in the GT Class at his home track. Fellows had travelled an extraordinary 8,500 km since he held a media session at Mosport on Wednesday, to race on Sunday. Saturday's winner Randy Pobst finished first in Sunday's qualifying but in the race, Fellows and his Corvette came on strong for the victory. Montreal's Kuno Wittmer finished in fourth spot. First year driver Fred Roberts of Toronto was the highest in the field, at ninth for the second straight day, and takes control in the rookie of the year battle.

For the second consecutive day in the GTS Class, John Heinricy of Holly, MI took the top spot while point's leader Peter Cunningham of Milwaukee, WI finished third.

The Touring Class winner wad rookie driver Robert Stout of Brownsburg, IN .

Ken Wilden's return to SCCA Tran-Am was a memorable one as he finished his incredible weekend with the race victory and a new Trans-Am record. The Oakville racer signed with Derhaag Motorsports just days before the race and he took full advantage of his opportunity. He broke the Mosport Trans-Am record in qualifying by more than two seconds with a lap time of 1:15.719 setting the tone for the race. Stouffville's Blaise Csida finished in third place.

Sunday's racing also the Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship hold their second race of the weekend. In the Super Touring Class, Marc-Antoine Camirand of St-Leonard d'Asto, QC took the victory over Montreal native Nick Wittmer by 1.424 seconds. They finished one-two for the second straight day. Anthony Rapone of Thornhill, ON won the Touring Class Sunday, matching his feat from Saturday.
