ENGLEWOOD, Colo.-SCCA Pro Racing Ltd. has appointed Gary Perry to the position of Technical Director for the Speedvision World Challenge Championships.

Perry joins the full-time SCCA Pro Racing staff after serving on the World Challenge technical field staff from 1997-2000. He will take over the technical management of the World Challenge series, previously handled by Mitch Wright, who was promoted to SCCA Pro Racing Vice President and General Manager last week.

"The most unique factor in Speedvision World Challenge racing is the fact that the rules for a car can change slightly from race-to-race to ensure close competition between a variety of manufacturers," said Wright. "Gary Perry is the best person to take the reins on this task. His input in the last several years has been paramount. Our manufacturers and competitors are in very good hands."

"It's great to be able to join a professional organization with such a fantastic future," said Perry. "I'm excited about taking on this challenge. Where else can you work with top professional teams and racing talent that includes SCCA National Champions, Daytona and Le Mans 24 Hour winners, endurance racing champions as well as a lot of foreign talent. This series has over 30 different models of current production automobiles that compete in the closest and most exciting racing in the U.S. I'm looking forward to being an integral component to the excitement with this series."

Perry, who is also the National Administrator for SCCA Club Racing's Scrutineers, comes to SCCA after retiring in March from his post of Director of Engineering for Eagle Picher, a manufacturer of construction equipment for a major worldwide company.

Perry will work out of his Lubbock, Texas home.
