A Satisfying Finish at Road America

Elkhart Lake, WI (August 16, 2009) - Disaster was averted for Randy and his #1 K-PAX/3R Racing Volvo S60 team, as they survived an electronic issue to finish in sixth place in the SCCA SPEED World Challenge GT Championship race at Road America. Randy qualified and started the Volvo in seventh and was having a decent race until the half way point when he developed a misfire. Randy played with some settings on the car with some success and was able to make it to the finish.

"I consider myself very lucky to have finished sixth today considering the circumstances. We knew coming into this race that Road America was going to be a tough track for our Volvos. Our strength is in handling and, because of that, we are made heavier and slower due to rules restrictions. Road America's long straightaways didn't really suit our car. When we developed the misfire, I wasn't sure we would even finish. I feel bad for my teammate Andy Pilgrim who had suspension issues and wasn't able to finish. I'm happy to come out of here with a sixth place."

"I would like to thank Benoit Theetge for filling in for me with my other team at the KONI Challenge race in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec today. They finished in sixth position and Christian remains in the points lead. I would also like to thank my personal sponsors Team Janica Racing, WeatherTech, Prairie Hills Motorsport Club, ChaseCam, and saferacer.com who continue to support my racing adventures."

The World Challenge GT race at Road America will be broadcast Friday, September 11 at 2 PM EST on SPEED. With only two more races to go, Randy's next SPEED World Challenge GT race will be September 23-25 at Road Atlanta. The next race for Randy in the KONI Challenge will be September 18-20 at Miller Motorsports Park.
