At the banquet following the final race weekend of the season for the Pirelli World Challenge series, the rumored resignation of series head Scott Bove was officially announced.

It is unclear what Bove's plans are, or what Pirelli Wold Challenge will do beyond the short statement issued that said current General Manager Greg Gill will be the interim CEO "until a suitable CEO can be found."

Bove, a racer himself, had just spent seven days in the hospital getting an aortic valve replacement. The Conifer, Colorado resident was one of six who bought the series from the SCCA seven years ago.

Bove was regarded as a no-nonsense leader, under which the series has grown considerably as the TV-friendly, and fan-friendly, sprint format is becoming more and more popular.

The series also announced a partial 2016 schedule featuring 11 race weekends, beginning, as it did this year, at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas on March 3-6, and ending on an as-yet unscheduled weekend in October at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The schedule is comparable to this year's, with the main change being that Detroit is out, Lime Rock is in. What classes are racing when and where has not been announced.
