CHURA TO RUN SVT FOCUS IN SPEED TOURING CAR:

Kyle Chura Racing has unveiled its No. 5 SVT Ford Focus to contest the 2002 SCCA Pro Racing Speed Touring Car Championship that commences at Sebring International Raceway this weekend, part of the 50th Mobil1 12 Hours of Sebring Presented by Dodge.

"I have been out of the driver's seat for a few years, but I am anxious to get back on the competitive side of pit wall," said Kyle Chura, team owner/driver. "I took a few years off to build up my public relations and advertising business. During that time I raced shifter carts and my company still handles the public relations for Audi Sport.

"The SVT Focus will feature a Ford two-liter power plant with several performance extras to boost power to what we hope will be a competitive level with the dominant cars of the series. I had a couple of years to survey the series and come up with a performance recipe that we hope will be a front running package this year. The car is still fairly new, so there are not a lot of off the shelf components that exist to make the Focus stick to the track and go fast."

The team is backed by Advanced Clutch Technology, Tom Holzer Ford, AutoMeter, B&M, RECARO, Saleen Auto Sport and Specialty Products Company.
