K-PAX Racing Volvos to Start First and Third in Utah Grand Prix

Tooele, UT (October 3, 2010) - The K-PAX Racing Volvos will start from the first and third starting positions in the Toyo Tires World Challenge Utah Grand Prix presented by Bondurant at Miller Motorsports Park.

Randy Pobst turned in his fastest lap of the weekend to secure his seventh pole of the season in the number 6 K-PAX Volvo S60. In the process, Randy tied the record for most World Challenge GT poles won in a season. The record was set by Price Cobb in 1994 and tied by Terry Borcheller in 1998.

Randy's time, a 1:57.256 (93.580), was 0.0149 clear of Kuno Wittmer in a Dodge Viper who will start second after posting a best time of 1:57.405 (93.461). Randy's team mate, Andy Pilgrim will start third in the number 8 K-PAX Volvo S60, thanks to a best lap of 1:57.488 (93.395).

"I had to adapt to it a little bit. I had to learn the car because it was new in the qualifying set-up. I had to learn how the car was going to handle. I had a real slow out lap to keep the car cool, then just went for it. It didn't handle the way I though it would so I drove it a little bit differently, and on the third lap, I put a clean lap together. I was really happy about that," an excited Randy said.

"We had a problem with the car initially. We think it was a crank sensor that was dropping out. When we came into the pits, it settled down and I went out again. It was little bit of bad circumstances there, but I got out, did some laps and did the best I could and ended up third. It was close to second, but actually 1-3 is good, it's a good position because Randy and I can start together," Andy explained optimistically.

The Toyo Tires World Challenge Utah Grand Prix presented by Bondurant is set for 2:55 p.m. to 3:55 p.m. MT.
