K-PAX Racing Volvos Finish Second and Third in Season Finale at Utah

Tooele, UT (October 3, 2010) - The K-PAX Racing Volvo S60s captured two of the top three spots on the podium in the final race of the 2010 season, the Toyo Tires World Challenge Utah Grand Prix presented by Bondurant at Miller Motorsports Park.

Andy Pilgrim started from the third position in the number 8 K-PAX Volvo S60, passed team mate Randy Pobst for second spot on lap 12, and challenged the Dodge Viper of eventual race winner Kuno Wittmer for the final 10 laps, narrowing the gap to 0.287 seconds late in the race. However, despite a valiant effort, Andy could not get past Wittmer and finished 0.346 behind in second position.

"I knew he (Randy) was going to be fast because he did a brilliant job in qualifying, but the (rewards) weight was going to take its toll in the race, so I tried to get by him as early as I could. We still raced, there are no team orders, so I got him at the bottom of the straight away and then I tried to get Kuno. He was quicker in some places, I was quick on the brakes, his brakes weren't great, but I wasn't fast enough to make a move without taking him out. So I was like, 'we're going to do this the right way otherwise, there's a 1,000 Dodge fans who we're going to kick my butt!' It was a great race. Traffic pulled us apart, traffic made me catch up - it was awesome!" an excited Andy said.

Randy started from the pole position in the number 6 K-PAX Volvo S60 and led the opening nine laps of the race, before being passed by Andy. He managed to get close to Andy a few times during the race thanks to slower traffic, but was unable to improve his third place position.

"[For] the first couple of laps the car is handling great and I was actually able to pull out a bit of a lead. I was feeling pretty good about it. Then as we ran, the traffic was a big issue. When we first came around and lapped the slower cars, a couple of times I got in a good spot and then I got in a bad spot and got held up something fierce. That's where Kuno got me. After that, I tried to hang on but my car started fading. I'm glad to get a third out of it. I'm real happy for the team to come home the championship and another podium," a satisfied Randy said.

Randy won the GT Drivers' Championship for the fourth time in his career. He was also champion in 2003, 2007 and 2008. He finished the season with 1,296 points. Kuno Wittmer was second and James Sofronas finished third.

Volvo is the 2010 GT Manufacturers' Champion with 85 points. Porsche finished second and Dodge was third.

The Toyo Tires World Challenge Utah Grand Prix presented by Bondurant will be broadcast on Versus on Saturday, October 30 from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. ET.
