Randy And K-PAX In Today's USA Today!

Utah (October 4, 2010) - Rocketman fans will be excited to see the K-PAX Volvos featured on the back of the Sports section of today's USA Today!

This recognition comes the day after Randy was crowned the 2010 World Challenge GT Champion following the World Challenge season finale at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah. Volvo was also awarded the GT Manufacturers' Championship, proving that there is a new muscle car in town. Randy and his #6 K-PAX Racing Volvo S60 team came to Utah with the championship clinched, knowing that the added rewards weight and high altitude would make a top finish difficult. The K-PAX team didn't give up, making adjustments throughout practice. By qualifying, the car was near perfect and Randy was able to take his seventh World Challenge pole of 2010, tying the GT class record for most poles in a season. Randy had an excellent standing start and launched into the lead with Kuno Wittmer's Viper in hot pursuit. Randy kept the lead until lap nine, when Wittmer caught Randy in traffic and was able to pass. Teammate Andy Pilgrim was also able to get by on lap 12 but was never able to pass Wittmer, giving both Volvos podium finishes.

"I am so proud of my K-PAX team. I had a ton of added weight in the car and we struggled in practice to get the car to run and handle at this 4000 ft altitude. In qualifying, the team came through and Will Moody nailed the setup. I drove really hard to get that pole and it was so rewarding under the circumstances. It was a total team effort. I got a good start but Kuno was reeling me in and got by in traffic. It is so tricky when you catch the touring cars and have to weave through traffic. Andy was a bit faster and passed me going into turn one and took off after Kuno. I ran my girl as hard as I could but the rewards weight was too much for the tires. I really enjoyed racing this car. It handled so well but was just too heavy. The race coincided with the annual Viper Owners' Group gathering so I guess it was fitting that the Viper won in front of its fans."

Randy will be racing in the 24 Hours of LeMons at the Autobahn Country Club near Chicago on October 23 and 24 with WeatherTech friends David and Cooper MacNeil in a Ford Crown Victoria cop car! Sounds like fun.
